Description: The speaker will discuss the key and critical aspects to implementation of risk assessment in the laboratory. An understanding of the key components of risk assessment will be discussed as well as the importance of accurate and realistic assessment of risk in common and uncommon activities and processes. We will demonstrate with real life examples common risk assessments, a how-to-guide to completion of the assessment.

Speaker: Nicole L. Prokopishyn PhD
Nicole is the director of the Cellular Therapy Laboratory in Calgary, the processing facility for the Alberta BMT Program, providing services for adult and pediatric transplants and cellular therapy. Nicole received her PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan in 1997 and spent 5 years in Houston and 5 years in Philadelphia working on development of gene editing technologies in blood stem cells for treatment of sickle cell disease and hemophilia. Nicole returned to Canada in 2007, took the director role combining her expertise in quality assurance with a passion for treatment of patients using transplant and cellular therapy.
