  • MLT’s can work in other labs
  • General histology/med lab is used in research
  • Working in the field of research can broaden med lab skills and help with collaboration with other fields/disciplines of Laboratory Medicine

 

Speaker: Melanie Peralta

Melanie Peralta graduated in 1997 as a Medical Laboratory Technologist from Red River College, Winnipeg Manitoba.  She moved to Toronto in 1998 and started her Med lab career in Histology. She worked in diagnostic Histology for 3 years, before moving into to researcher. From 2002 to present she maintained a full-time job and briefly taught a Histology lab at the Michener Institute, Bridging Program.  Today, she leads a team of 4 technologists and 1 lab Technician at the Pathology Research Program at the University Health Network.
