Prerequisites: Laboratory Safety 1: Introduction, Overview, General Occupational Hygiene and Biosafety (4916-16)

Prior to attempting this course, it is suggested that the learner complete the following free, 30-minute course:

WHMIS 2015: An Introduction from Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety https://www.ccohs.ca/products/courses/whmis_ghs_intro/

This course describes key features of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) 2015. Similar training provided by an employer may be considered equivalent.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the legal requirements for working with hazardous products under WHMIS 2015
  • Recognize, identify and assess chemical, physical and ergonomic hazards
  • Determine controls, including safe procedures, for reducing risk related to chemical, physical and ergonomic hazards within the laboratory
