Speaker: Dr. Calvino Cheng, MD, PhD, FRCPC, CPHIMS-CA
Dr. Calvino Cheng is a staff hematopathologist at Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre at Nova Scotia Health, Central Zone (NSHA) in Halifax. He completed a residency in hematological pathology at the University of Alberta in 2005 and subsequently a PhD in 2017 at Dalhousie University with the faculties of Computer Sciences and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He is a professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Dalhousie University, medical lead of the Pathology Informatics Group (PInG), and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS-CA). His major interests are in the areas of using health information systems’ data to discover new knowledge, improve patient care and the functioning of the health care system. He enjoys living life to the fullest with his wife and four kids (ranging from ages 10-14) and loves going on adventures with them.
