Description: Military medical laboratory technologists play a vital role in the Canadian Forces in providing medical laboratory data used in the treatment and diagnosis of surgical and medical conditions in detachments and clinics, as well as in combat and operational units. They work in a variety of medical facilities and temporary labs while deployed in peacekeeping, combat and humanitarian missions around the world.   • Describe main roles of the medical laboratory technologists in the Canadian Forces
  • List examples of the previous CAF operations where military medical laboratory technologists were involved in
  • Understand how the lab is set up in remote and resource limited settings

 

Speaker: Junkyu Lee, BSc (MLS) MLT

Junkyu graduated from University of Alberta with a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science in 2012. He worked in the microbiology lab at Kelowna General Hospital as a bench tech and technical lead before joining the Canadian Forces in 2018. He is currently working at the CFB Esquimalt Base Hospital Laboratory in Victoria BC.
