Speaker: Dr. Lana Potts, CCFP
Dr. Lana Rose Potts - Saahkwaapiim is a grass roots Blackfoot Family Physician who specializes in First Nations Health. She is a renowned speaker and is known for sharing her lived experience and authority in Indigenous health and Indigenous ways of knowing. Lana has 20 + years experience working in health care as a registered nurse and physician. She dedicates her practice to revitalizing Blackfoot Health systems. She was fortunate to be raised in ceremony and receive influence and teachings from her late mother Hazel Potts, grandmother Rose Potts and other matriarchs in Blackfoot Territory. As a mother, academic, advocate and role model she has a strong commitment to protecting youth and securing a future for our pookaiiks to follow. She is also a founding member of the Aboriginal Wisdom Council, a provincial board that advises on improving health outcomes in Indigenous communities.
