Description: This course is designed to provide the learner with a comprehensive look at the CSMLS Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics Guidance document is analyzed and basic ethics definitions, explanations of how and when to use the Code of Ethics and Ethical Dilemma Resolution Model will be reviewed. The learner will be required to participate in a case study discussion in the CSMLS Code of Ethics forum in order to receive a certificate of completion for this course.

  • Name the five categories outlined in the CSMLS Code of Ethics.
  • Paraphrase the codes outlined within the CSMLS Code of Ethics.
  • Recognize the CSMLS Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Recognize the CSMLS Standards of Practice for Medical Laboratory Technologists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
  • Explain how the CSMLS Code of Ethics should be used.
  • Apply the CSMLS Code of Ethics to resolve laboratory ethical case scenarios.
  • Describe the Ethical Dilemma Resolution Model.
  • Analyze laboratory ethical case scenarios using the Ethical Dilemma Resolution Model.
