Speaker: Lorna Zilic, MLT, CAE, ICE-CCP

Lorna Zilic is a highly accomplished Manager of Certification and Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) at the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science. She directly oversees the Certification examination process for all prospective medical laboratory professionals (MLPs) in Canada, and is herself a certified medical laboratory technologist. Ensuring that MLP graduates meet industry standards for certification is of utmost importance to Lorna.

Lorna is a skilled and efficient manager in the rapidly evolving healthcare industry. As a Certified Association Executive (CAE®), she is well-versed in best practices and competencies in the not-for-profit sector. Her designation as an Institute of Credentialing Excellence (ICE) Certified Credentialing Professional (ICE-CCP™) demonstrates her exceptional competence in professional credentialing, including governance and resources, credentialing program operations, and assessment development and validation. Additionally, Lorna has earned her Certificate of Mastery in Prior Learning Assessment from the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning at DePaul University.

Lorna's extensive background in the blood and tissue banking industries has shaped her unwavering commitment to advocating for MLPs and issues related to organ and tissue donation. She advocates through action, and has volunteered on strategic task forces, including the 'Enhancing Tissue Banking in Canada Phase I' Sustainability Task Force.

In her leisure time, Lorna enjoys reading, spending quality time with her family, cooking, gardening, and nurturing her passion for plants.
