We will examine how bias may impact a student’s ability to succeed, grow and learn. We will also analyze how it affects a student’s mental health and professional development. As a community, we must strive to create and maintain a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for our students. We will discuss how we can address these biases through embracing identity, diversity, justice and activism.

  • Recognize key examples of bias within MLP Education
  • Examine how bias impacts MLP student experience
  • Determine how we can overcome bias as a MLP community

 

Speaker: Annreka Boodoo, (MLT, BHSc)

Annreka graduated from Ontario Tech University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) in Medical Laboratory Science. She was an MLT and Clinical Educator at the joint Mount Sinai/UHN laboratory. Annreka has also completed professional development certificates such as Infection Prevention and Control as well as Clinical Education. Annreka now works at Michener as an Associate Professor primarily teaching Microbiology. She has found her passion in Education and will be pursuing a Master of Education in the fall to further her knowledge in the field.
