• Classify adverse effects of blood transfusions
• Name frequently occurring adverse effects
• Describe signs and symptoms of common transfusion reactions
• Understand basic etiology of the adverse effects of blood transfusion
• Conduct a thorough laboratory investigation of transfusion reaction screening and appropriate follow-up actions
• State the relative risks of various infectious and non-infectious adverse effects of blood transfusion
• List acute complications of blood transfusion
• Suggest preventive measures to minimize future risks
