Description: One of the most challenging aspects of macro parasites identification is first determining if it is an actual parasite or an incidental finding. The speaker presents an overview of the identification process for several macro parasites at the Public Health Laboratory (ProvLab) in Edmonton. The limited proficiency resources to evaluate competency; critique the practice of virtual images as a way to evaluate expertise compare to actual specimen examination.; and defend the practice of one-to-one descriptive learning as the proven way to build competency and expertise is discussed.
