Description: In March, 2020, due to isolation protocols, the laboratory at Stratford General Hospital was suddenly without half of its staff. In order to maintain services, staff had to pivot rapidly and take on more tasks and unfamiliar work. Chaos took over. After everything had settled, management decided to use the crisis as a learning opportunity, and introduced the concept of "generalists" - staff who were oriented and competent in multiple disciplines, able to shift to another department or task as needed. There were endless challenges, but progress made and flexibility gained. Lessons learned and success stories will be shared.
