Course/Activity Information

Prerequisites:

  • Laboratory Safety 1: Introduction, Overview, General Industrial Hygiene and Biosafety
  • Laboratory Safety 2: Chemical and Physical Hazards

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the hierarchy of controls.
  • Be able to apply engineering controls such as general ventilation and specialized mechanical ventilation equipment.
  • Be able to apply administrative controls such as orientation and training, workplace inspections, reproductive hazard controls, emergency response procedures and routine practices and additional precautions.
  • Be able to apply personal protective equipment controls for hazards involving chemical, biological and radioactive hazards.
